Illumination in the bathroom - convenience and additional charm

There are many options for lighting the bathroom, including not only traditional ones with a large chandelier in the center, but also very romantic ones in the form of a "starry sky". The question is how to correctly and correctly install all kinds of lighting, so that the room acquires the greatest comfort and functionality. It is believed that the bathroom should not only be light, but close to the lighting characteristic of an adjacent room. In this case, there will be no discomfort when exiting it. There is also much debate about whether the decorative qualities of luminaires should be related to the functional ones, whether spot lighting should be used as a decorative element in particular when turned off. But you can only find answers to all these questions based on what stylistic task you set and what preferences you have.

Light must match design

First of all, you need to remember that the light in the bathroom must necessarily correspond to the overall design, which includes both plumbing equipment and accessories located throughout the room and usually purchased in a single collection. In any case, it will be so. For example, if the room is loaded with various shining decor, it is most advisable to use lamps that are invisible or even hidden from the eyes. And if on the contrary there are discreet plumbing, faucets, and decorative elements in the room, then in this case the most suitable are ceiling lights that are quite bright and wonderfully serve as decor.

Among other things, the decorative properties of the backlight can change significantly when it is turned off. For example, when the light is off in the bathroom, the small high-speed bulb may not particularly attract attention. However, as soon as the light turns on, it instantly transforms and gives a show in full. It can be colored highlights, refracted rays, sparkling faces or a play of shadows. Fortunately, modern LED or spotlights are made with the expectation that even ordinary water procedures look as esthetic as possible.

However, do not forget to comply with safety regulations, as oversights are simply unacceptable. Any light source must be reliably protected from direct water ingress, and the metal fittings of high-voltage devices must be grounded. By the way, halogen lighting gives better illumination than ordinary lamps, and this despite the fact that they have the same energy consumption.

Ceiling light

If the bathroom is small enough, sometimes one lamp is enough to provide the necessary lighting. In spacious rooms, several fixtures are usually installed, so that the light is distributed more evenly. By the way, the presence of a large number of lamps can reduce power and size. For example, small lamps with halogen bulbs became especially popular. they are very tiny in size. Halogen lamps can be of two types: recessed and open. Recessed ceilings are mounted in suspended ceilings, while ceilings can be made of any material. There are also lights that directly cut into the ceiling. The light beam from recessed downlights is usually directed directly to the floor.

However, this is not always a rational decision. In this connection, such spotlights, the rotation angle of which is adjustable, are most often used for general lighting. Their designs are based on conductive strings and tires, the variety of forms of which allows them to be mounted both to the ceiling and to the wall. Thus, you can create unique combinations of all kinds. Fortunately, light sources are very mobile and easily turn in the right direction. And they can even be removed from the entire system, while not at all disturbing the appearance.

No one has yet canceled overhead ceiling lights, especially since they are an almost perfect solution to the issue of bathroom lighting. They are easy to use, economical, easy to install and provide a comfortable environment for both water and cosmetic procedures.

Furniture lighting

In any bathroom there are various shelves, shelves, drawers, lockers, etc. If you equip them with lighting from spotlights, then in addition to the wonderful decorative effect and additional charm, you will be able to quickly and easily find the right things among the many things that store them.

Light zoning

The bathroom, like any other, needs zoning, even technically not complicated. In any bathroom, it is recommended to allocate, as a separate functional area, the space located near the mirror. If the design of the room is more complex and has different podiums, niches or other delights, then there can be much more zones, while light zoning is done using local lighting sources.

The space near the mirror is considered working and has a number of its nuances:

  • this zone requires a sufficiently bright light source, but not striking in the eyes and not blinding, the ideal solution is diffused light, which can be created using any shades of frosted glass or white plastic (why white - because other shades can create unpredictable changes in reflection );
  • illumination near the mirror can be carried out in different ways, but the most common and convenient option is one in which a pair of lamps are placed symmetrically - this eliminates black-and-white transitions and ensures an even distribution of light;
  • if the mirror has a large width, then uniform illumination can be achieved by placing the lamps horizontally along it, observing a height of about two meters from the floor;
  • if the mirror has an average size, then it is most expedient to equip it with lamps around the entire perimeter;
  • the mirror area can be illuminated with absolutely any type of lamp - it depends on the design of the lamp, while its spectrum is desirable to bring as close as possible to the natural spectrum
  • fixtures can be mounted both to the wall and directly to the mirror, and it is not necessary to resort to drilling a mirror surface, there is a special glue with which the fixtures are glued

Directional light

In order to relax as much as possible and have fun in the bath, you need to make it a place separate from other plumbing. Today, many manufacturers produce bathtubs with autonomous lighting, which creates a very impressive and spectacular sight. However, not everyone has the opportunity to purchase such a bath. Therefore, let's talk about what are the methods of light zoning for owners of conventional bathtubs that do not shine on their own:

  • the bath area can be distinguished with a beam of light directed clearly at it, and the rest of the space immersed in twilight;
  • it is possible to suspend a sconce with a colored glass shade, if the lamp is on / off, then two lamps of different colors can be installed in it, which can be switched on simultaneously or individually;
  • if the ceiling is low enough, and the room itself is spacious, it’s nice to group multi-colored lamps on it in a certain sector - this will give the effect of spaces painted in different tones that will gently flow into each other;
  • if there is a desire, then light zoning can be done by hanging one lamp over each element of plumbing

Floor lighting

Additional floor lighting can create a wonderful atmosphere and a special mood in the bathroom. This can be done with the help of special fixtures, which have a special increased strength and tightness - those that are used to illuminate garden paths. Usually they have an outer diameter of about five centimeters, and the installation depth is nine centimeters, and bulbs for them are needed with a power of not more than 5 watts. Since the materials used to decorate a bathroom are usually glossy (tiles, metal, glass, mirrors), bathroom fixtures should have a low gloss.

Finally, the color water aqua show

Today, in the age of technological progress, almost everyone can organize a real aqua show in their bathroom, thus providing excellent relaxation. And this is done with the help of special LED shower heads, taps, as well as with the help of colored ribbons. Such lights have several colors, are easily and quickly installed, and also have many interesting and even useful features that make the adoption of water procedures even more enjoyable.
